Dementia
For families, managing the diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care of a person with dementia is commonly difficult. If not immediately, it often becomes difficult over time – for both the patient and their loved ones. At Mercy, we work to create an environment in which dementia is defined more as a shift in the way a person experiences the world around her/him to aid in living more successfully with dementia.
Mercy continues to explore how to better support families living with dementia, guided by philosophies shared by Dr. G. Allen Power, board-certified internist, geriatrician, and author of Dementia Beyond Drugs and Dementia Beyond Disease. Learn more about Dr. Power’s Seven Domains of Well-Being (PDF).
