Our Symbol – The Nasturtium
You may notice Family Caregivers Center volunteers or staff wearing an orange flower. You also will notice many orange flowers as you walk through the Center. This flower is called a Nasturtium and has a special meaning.
The nasturtium flower stands for victory in struggle. Orange is the color of joy and creativity, promoting a sense of wellness and emotional energy that should be shared through compassion, passion and warmth. Kathy Good purchased a nasturtium pin that happened to be orange – her husband, Dave’s, favorite color – during the development of the Center. She wore it for every planning meeting. Appropriately, we have made the nasturtium the symbol of the Family Caregivers Center.
