Migraine-Associated Vertigo (MAV)
This is a spinning sensation that can occur with or without headache; MAV, or “sick headache,” can include head pain that intensifies, pounding and throbbing and sensitivity to light, nausea, vomiting and intolerance to noise.
The symptoms can be incapacitating, causing inability to complete daily tasks. The most effective treatment is generally a combination of medications, vestibular rehabilitation and lifestyle modification that includes restricting risk factors for migraine.
