Mercy’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) acts as a partner, or resource, for you in providing professional, confidential help to employees and their families, through their own initiative or supervisor referral. If you’re experiencing mental, emotional or stress-related problems, don’t hesitate to contact EAP. Below are a few points on why you should contact EAP and how EAP counselors can help you.
- Take care of yourself. Just as you would go to your doctor for a broken bone, you should see an EAP counselor when you’re experiencing mental, emotional or stress-related problems. Talking about how you’re feeling is a powerful first step in taking care of your body and mind.
- Become a better person for you and those around you. Not only is taking care of yourself important for your health, but also for those you take care of and see daily. For example, if you are experiencing an issue and become overly stressed, your spouse, children and pets may suffer the consequences of not living with a healthy-minded person. Take care of yourself by talking about your issues with an EAP counselor, finding coping mechanisms to help you relax and find resolutions.
