Prepare for the New Year
Thinking, “I’ll do that later,” or “It can wait,” can lead to procrastinating your goals, health and a better life. Instead, think, “I’m going to this year,” or “I’m going to start right now,” because you are in charge of making your life better. Review how to make your goals a reality below.
Creating a check list of your goals for the year can help keep you on track, as well as give you the satisfaction of checking items of your list. Sometimes, it may feel like you aren’t accomplishing as much as you think, but by looking at the check list, you can see how well you’re doing. Some check list items require more time and energy, too, so be proud of your accomplishments – no matter or small or big.
Whether you’re renovating your home, trying to lose weight, going back to school, or whatever your goal may be, ask someone to do it with you. Your friend, family member or significant other can help you make the updates to your home; work out with you and make healthy meals; and help you study. Having accountability is how you will succeed so by having someone help you along the way, you’re guaranteeing to progress.
No matter the activity, make a schedule to create time just for your goals. That may mean having a close friend or family member watching your children and pets for the day; making time to buy the supplies you need; or just going to bed at a decent time to be productive the next day. Planning ahead can help alleviate the stressors and make your transition to progress easier.
A lot of goals can be helped through a class. There are a variety of classes that could be offered through your local healthcare system, YMCA, gyms, bakeries, crafting centers, etc. Learning how to do something by professionals and with other people can help you learn quicker as well as correctly.
