Mercy Cedar Rapids once again earns prestigious accreditation for metabolic & bariatric surgery
Mercy Cedar Rapids is proud to announce that it has once again earned accreditation from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). Mercy is the only program in Cedar Rapids to have achieved this accreditation.
This prestigious accreditation – a joint initiative of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) – recognizes the highest standards in surgical care for metabolic and bariatric procedures.
The MBSAQIP is a comprehensive program designed to ensure the safety and effectiveness of surgeries aimed at weight loss and the treatment of obesity-related conditions, such as hypertension, diabetes, sleep apnea and more. Accredited centers, like Mercy Cedar Rapids, adhere to rigorous standards that focus on continually improving patient outcomes.
“Achieving this accreditation demonstrates our commitment to providing safe, effective, and high-quality care to our patients undergoing metabolic and bariatric surgery,” said Dr. Sajida Ahad, MD, FACS, bariatric surgeon and medical director of Mercy’s Bariatric Surgery Clinic.
Mercy’s bariatric surgery program has been in existence since 2016.
