Mercy Medical Center Foundation & Fairfax State Savings Bank announce Giving Tuesday match challenge
The Mercy Medical Center Foundation is pleased to share that once again Fairfax State Savings Bank will be matching financial donations in observance of Giving Tuesday, which is Nov. 29. Starting today and continuing through Nov. 29, all donations received through the Mercy Foundation’s Giving Tuesday website will be matched dollar for dollar by Fairfax State Savings Bank, up to $20,000 total.
Giving Tuesday is a global day of generosity that occurs annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Created in 2012, Giving Tuesday has grown into a global movement that inspires millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity.
“We’re pleased to increase our matching donation from $15,000 to $20,000 this year and our hope is to exceed last year’s fundraising total of more than $50,000,” said Laurie Neuhaus, Executive Vice President of Fairfax State Savings Bank. “Giving Tuesday helps promote all the good that Mercy does. We look forward to being a part of it.”
“We were so excited about the good results we saw from Giving Tuesday last year at Mercy that we were inspired to participate again this year,” said Patrick Slater, President and CEO of Fairfax State Savings Bank.
Laurie, as a breast cancer survivor, and Patrick, having undergone quadruple bypass heart surgery, have both experienced The Mercy Touch® in life-changing ways. The Giving Tuesday matching gift challenge is aimed at encouraging members of the community to join with Fairfax State Savings Bank in supporting Mercy and its exceptional patient care.
Patrick, his family and Fairfax State Savings Bank have a long-standing legacy of supporting Mercy, including financial gifts to Hospice of Mercy, HallMar Village, the Family Caregivers Center, the Especially for You® Race Against Breast Cancer, cardiac services and more. It’s a tradition that started with Patrick’s father and community philanthropist David Neuhaus, who he succeeded in leadership at Fairfax State Savings Bank. This year’s campaign takes on even more special meaning for Patrick, with the recent passing of David, who was also a long-time board member at Mercy, including time served as Chair of the Board from 2000 to 2008.
Giving Tuesday donations can be made at www.mercycare.org/giving/tuesday or by check with “Giving Tuesday” included on the memo line.
