MercyCare, Mount Mercy University partner to bring clinic to campus
MercyCare Health at Mount Mercy begins seeing patients
Students and employees of Mount Mercy University no longer need to travel off campus to see a healthcare provider for acute ailments.
Thanks to a partnership between the university and MercyCare Community Physicians, a new clinic—MercyCare Health at Mount Mercy—has opened on the second floor of the school’s University Center at 1330 Elmhurst Dr NE in Cedar Rapids. The location, situated in the heart of campus, is just steps away from student residences and near all academic buildings.
MercyCare’s Kara Goslin, PA-C, is caring for Mount Mercy patients at the clinic with on-site office hours of 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. Round-the-clock video visits are also available seven days a week when sickness strikes outside of office hours.
“Perhaps now more than ever, easy access to a medical provider is paramount,” Goslin said. “We’re glad to offer this connection to care for students and employees at Mount Mercy. Now, when acute illnesses—like a cold or sore throat—come on, those patients have a convenient treatment option that’s right around the corner.”
Patients need only to set up a MyChart patient portal account at mercycare.org/mychart before scheduling their first visit. Then, online scheduling is available at mercycare.org/mtmercy. The clinic can also be reached at (319) 286-4439. All visits are billed through the patient’s personal health insurance.
“We’re thrilled to offer MercyCare Health at Mount Mercy to help our Mustangs stay well,” said Dr. Nate Klein, vice president for student success at the university. “It’s already a great addition to our campus community.”
MercyCare Health at Mount Mercy is an expansion of the university’s health services—adding a clinician to the care given by the institution’s registered nurse and marking the first on-site medical clinic in the school’s history.
