Mercy Birthplace & NICU receives grant from Variety – The Children’s Charity
Mercy Medical Center has received a $20,384 grant from Variety – The Children’s Charity. The grant will fund items for Mercy’s Birthplace & NICU, including bassinets; a Novum neonatal cribette; a medical storage cart; Mamaroo baby swings; and treasure chest items for siblings.
The Variety grant will ensure patient safety remains at the heart of Mercy’s Birthplace & NICU. Specifically, the equipment supports patient care and safety in the following ways:
- The new bassinets will safely keep baby closer to mom more than ever before, enabling the closeness that a mother desires with her newborn.
- The Novum neonatal cribette incorporates the features of a baby crib, but is scaled for neonatal care with space for monitoring and observation.
- The medical storage cart for nurses and providers is easily accessible and organized for immediate use in an emergency.
“This new equipment offers our families further confidence and security in knowing their children are being cared for with state-of-the-art equipment,” said Carri Brecht, director of Mercy Birthplace, Pediatrics and NICU. “We always strive to be responsive to the changing needs of children, mothers and their families. Support from Variety – The Children’s Charity has helped Mercy continue to provide high-quality care for our patients.”
