Mercy Cedar Rapids limits public entry points and puts screening process in place
The COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation is changing rapidly. As part of the hospital’s efforts to slow the spread of the virus, Mercy is limiting the number of public entry points and putting screening processes in place for patients, visitors and staff.
Starting Tuesday, March 17, Mercy will begin screening patients, visitors and employees as they enter the hospital and clinics. The screening process will include:
- Questions about travel history and health conditions
- A health screening, which will include taking the surface temperature of all individuals entering the hospital and clinics.
- If individuals pass the initial screening, they will receive a sticker that indicates they’ve been screened and will be allowed to enter.
- If individuals do not pass the screening, they will not be allowed to enter. If the individual is experiencing an emergency health situation, they will be directed to the Emergency Dept.
Additionally, Mercy will limit the number of entry points into the hospital. There will be five public points of entry on weekdays and three on weekends. Public entrance points include:
- Hall-Perrine Cancer Center main entrance (6 a.m. to 6 p.m.), weekdays only.
- 8th Avenue main Lundy Pavilion entrance (6 a.m. to 6 p.m.), weekdays only.
- 10th Street main entrance (6 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
- 8th Street parking ramp North ground entrance (6 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
- Emergency Department entrance (24 hours)
Individuals visiting Mercy Pediatric Clinic, Birthplace or the Surgery Center will be screened upon entry at those locations.
Valet services at Lundy Pavilion and the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center are suspended until further notice.
