The race supports the Especially for You Fund, providing mammograms, ultrasounds, biopsies, and other breast-care and gynecological cancer screenings and services to individuals in need. Throughout the years, more than 10,000 individuals have accessed nearly 21,000 services through the EFY Fund.
Individuals can register for the race online at www.especiallyforyourace.org until race day. On-site registration will be available during packet pick-up times from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, in the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center parking lot; from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, in Mercy Lot #19; and from 8 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, also in Mercy Lot #19. Ready, Set…
On race day, opening ceremonies begin at 7:45 a.m.; the race starts at 8 a.m. The starting line is on Tenth St. SE in front of Hall-Perrine Cancer Center, situated in the MedQuarter Regional Medical District. Race participants are encouraged to stay near the finish line at NewBo for the post-race party, which includes family and children’s activities, live music, a health fair and a pancake breakfast.
Free shuttle service is available to and from the start and finish lines for participants coming from select downtown parking locations.
Survivor Photo
On race morning, breast cancer survivors are invited to gather at the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center parking lot (to the right of the building’s main entrance) at 7:15 a.m. to participate in a group photo, which will be taken at 7:30 a.m. This year, survivors will form the shape of a heart for the photo.

The EFY race and fund are dedicated to the memory of Sandy Knight, a Whittier resident and General Mills employee who died of breast cancer in July 1991. Knight co-founded Mercy’s Especially for You After Breast Cancer Support Group. Her dream was to establish a race to raise funds for breast cancer awareness and education.
Breast cancer is most treatable and curable when detected in its earliest stages. Even so, breast cancer claims more than 40,000 lives each year. This number can be reduced with early detection through clinical breast exam and mammography.
