Mercy Cedar Rapids releases 2017-2018 annual report
Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids has released its 2017-2018 annual report, demonstrating its person-centered approach to care, being an employer of choice and an institution that’s engaged in the communities it serves. Putting patient needs, staff and community at the forefront of each new initiative has been an enduring focus at Mercy throughout the past 118 years.
Once again, Mercy has been acknowledged with many quality awards and other achievements that demonstrate a strong strategic plan, the commitment of compassionate providers, and the delivery of new technology and exemplary healthcare.
Several of Mercy’s notable accomplishments from the past year include:
- Started providing open heart surgery and additional cutting-edge treatments for cardiac patients
- Acquired three new da Vinci® surgical systems, further advancing technology with a minimally invasive approach
- Celebrated five years of comprehensive cancer care under one roof at Hall-Perrine Cancer Center
- Became the first hospital in Iowa to implant a pacemaker equipped with Bluetooth technology
- Achieved the 100 Top Hospitals® award by IBM Watson Health™ for the sixth consecutive year
- Opened MercyCare Urgent Care and Outpatient Surgery in Hiawatha Medical Park to increase access to care
- Added an anti-human trafficking coordinator – a first in the state
