Mercy named recipient of America’s 50 Best Hospitals Award™
Healthgrades, an online resource for information about U.S. hospitals and physicians, has named Mercy Medical Center one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals. The distinction places Mercy among the top 1% of more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide for its consistent and superior clinical performance for at least six consecutive years.
“Excellence in caring for our patients is the first and foremost commitment in everything we do,” said Mercy president and CEO, Tim Charles. “Quality and safety are foundational to delivering The Mercy Touch. To be recognized for providing the highest level of care to all patients who walk through our doors each and every day is an honor.”
Healthgrades determines America’s 50 Best Hospitals Award recipients by analyzing objective performance data such as risk-adjusted mortality and in-hospital complications among Medicare patients. During the 2017 study period (2013-2015), award recipients showed superior performance in clinical outcomes for patients across at least 21 of 32 of the most common inpatient conditions and procedures.
Mercy is one of only two hospitals in Iowa to receive this designation.
