New MercyCare primary care clinic to open in Shellsburg
MercyCare Community Physicians (MCCP) announces the addition of a new medical clinic in Shellsburg. MercyCare Shellsburg will occupy space within an existing building, located at 401 Canton St. NW, which also houses Rock Ridge Assisted Living. Building renovations are set to begin in early July. Once complete, MercyCare providers plan to begin seeing patients in late July.
MercyCare officials say the new clinic is in response to growing demand for conveniently located and more accessible healthcare, especially in rural areas.
“We look forward to joining the Shellsburg community as part of our mission to enhance the health of all the communities we serve,” said Tim Charles, president and CEO, Mercy Medical Center. “Mercy has served Shellsburg residents for many years. Now, we are able to bring our high-quality healthcare services even closer to their homes.”
MercyCare worked closely with Charles Thomas, board president at Rock Ridge Assisted Living Center in Shellsburg, to bring the primary care clinic to the community.
“I chose to approach MercyCare because I appreciate the importance of The Mercy Touch® and its role in providing exceptional healthcare. MercyCare will offer the community and Rock Ridge residents more coordinated and accessible care,” said Thomas.
MercyCare Shellsburg will be staffed by a full-time nurse practitioner with supervision from Dr. Paul Thomas and Dr. John Lancaster of MercyCare Center Point.
The clinic will be equipped with the latest medical technology and will utilize Mercy’s electronic medical record, Epic, allowing for seamless coordination between Mercy’s doctors, nurses, therapists and other healthcare providers.
