MercyCare breaks ground on innovative Prairie Creek Clinic

MercyCare Community Physicians (MCCP) broke ground today on a new medical clinic located east of The Hotel at Kirkwood Center, at 777 76th Avenue Drive SW.

The MercyCare Prairie Creek Clinic will include a variety of medical services, including:

• Primary care/family medicine
• Urgent Care
• Therapies
• Imaging & lab services
• Counseling

MercyCare leaders say the new clinic is in response to a growing need for conveniently located and more accessible healthcare, especially on Cedar Rapids’ quickly-developing southwest side.

Along with providing exceptional care for patients, this clinic will also serve as an educational resource and real world lab for students at Kirkwood Community College. This innovative partnership will offer Kirkwood students hands-on training and education in advanced team-based models of care, and systems such as Epic for electronic medical records, as well as a telehealth outlet for healthcare providers to connect with patients using high-definition technology.

The facility is set to open in the fall of 2016.
