Mercy Medical Center’s Birthplace reflects on most popular baby names

Aidan and William top the list of most popular boys names for newborns in 2015 at Mercy Medical Center’s Birthplace. For girls, it’s a four-way tie between Emma, Natalie, Adalynn and Macy.

Fifth on the list of most popular names for newborn girls is Harper. Rounding out the top five for boys are Lincoln, Liam, and Oliver.

According to popular parenting website BabyCenter.com, the top baby names nationwide for 2015 are: Sophia for girls, and Jackson for boys.

Other notable facts from Mercy’s Birthplace in 2015:

• 53% of babies born were boys; 47% were girls
• The most popular days of the year to give birth were April 25 and November 5
• All Mercy babies are placed in HALO swaddle sleep sacks (instead of blankets) and all babies get a new one to take home thanks to the generosity of the Mercy Auxiliary.
