Mercy’s Hall-Perrine Cancer Center marks one-year anniversary

Mercy Medical Center this week is recognizing the one-year anniversary of the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center. On July 19, 2012, the hospital officially opened the doors of the 100,000 square foot cancer center and began treating patients in the new facility, providing a full spectrum of cancer treatment, programs and services – all under one roof. This all-inclusive concept continues to make the center unique to this area.

Conveniently connected to Mercy Medical Center, elements required for cancer care, including private inpatient suites and imaging services, are just steps away at this world-class cancer facility.  

Since the cancer center opened, additional technologies, personnel, programs and services have been thoughtfully added. Some notable highlights this past year include:

• Addition of Dr. Vincent Reid – Cedar Rapids’ only fellowship-trained oncology surgeon
• Establishment of a Family Cancer Resource Center – with services geared toward family members and caregivers
• Addition of mastectomy fitting service and garment sales
• Establishment of new service providing chemotherapy in Manchester, IA
• Addition of integrative medicine services

From initial consultations to treatments and support services, patients at the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center are accompanied throughout the cancer journey by the center’s staff – all working and interacting with patients together in one location, based on a unified care plan. An expanded spectrum of cancer-specific healthcare providers, including nurse navigators, social workers, dietitians, exercise specialists, a genetics counselor, massage therapists and a lymphedema specialist work in close collaboration to provide the very best cancer care.

No public event will be held to mark the anniversary but tours of the cancer center are available upon request throughout the year.
