Mercy Medical Center Birthplace reflects on 2013 babies
Harper and Jackson topped the list of most popular names for new babies born in 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.
Harper was the most common names for girls while Jackson was the choice of more parents for boys born at Mercy’s Birthplace this past year.
Among the list of other most chosen names for newborn girls at Mercy are Ella, Ava, Paisley, Grace and Reagan. Other favorite names for boys were Bentley, Greyson, Henry, Isaac and Ryker.
Other notable facts from Mercy’s Birthplace in 2013:
- 53% of babies born were boys; 47% were girls
- The most popular day of the year to give birth was September 4 – when 11 babies were born.
- Eight sets of twins were born in 2013.
- All babies are now placed in HALO swaddle sleep sacks (instead of blankets) and all babies get a new one to take home thanks to the generosity of the Mercy Auxiliary.
