Don’t Let the Flu Get to You!
Can you believe the flu season is already sneaking up on us? October through April is prime flu time, so here are a few tips for keeping the bug at bay:
-
Hand hygiene is key.
Wash your hands often – especially after sneezing, coughing or using a tissue. Remember to wipe down objects that are touched by many hands, such as computer keyboards, phones, door handles, etc. using antibacterial wipes.
-
Cover your cough or sneeze.
Did you know a sneeze can send 100,000 germs flying at 100 miles per hour!? Cover your mouth and nose with your elbow or a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and avoid using your hands.
-
Get your flu shot.
It takes about two weeks for the antibodies in the flu vaccine to develop, so the sooner you can get the shot, the better. You may be a little sore the next day, but it’s a small price to pay to avoid the flu taking you down.
-
Take care of yourself and others.
If you follow these rules and still end up sick, be kind and protect others by staying home. Stay hydrated, get lots of rest and eat a well-balanced diet to boost your immune system.
