Tim's Story
Tim David of Ely is thankful to be alive and grateful for the care he received through Mercy’s Heart Center. Tim experienced his first heart attack in 2006 at the age of 35. His second heart attack came 12 years later at the age of 47.
With that second heart attack, Tim realized it was time to take his health much more seriously. He credits his cardiologist, Dr. Shiny Mathewkutty, with his recovery and setting him on the right track.
“Dr. Mathewkutty really had me look at my life and how I could reduce stress," he said. "I had to make changes or I was going to die. I wouldn’t survive another heart attack.”
With his health in mind, Tim and his wife, Jennifer, decided to downsize both their home and their business operations; they own EHC Commercial Services, Inc. Regular check-ups with Dr. Mathewkutty help keep Tim focused on maintaining a healthy diet, getting exercise and alleviating stress.
“Dr. Mathewkutty goes above and beyond in the way she treats her patients,” Tim said. “She takes time with me and makes me feel like I matter, like I’m important. It’s clear to me that she loves her job and that she really cares.”
To show their appreciation, the couple made a grateful patient donation to the Mercy Foundation in honor of Dr. Mathewkutty. The Foundation created this new giving option so that patients like Tim could recognize and thank their care providers. Notice of gifts made in this way are shared with the care providers involved.
Tim appreciates the opportunity to thank Dr. Mathewkutty in a meaningful way.
“She’s the coolest doctor I’ve ever had; she saved my life," he said. "I feel so grateful and blessed.”
