About Us & Ways to Give
Propelled by public generosity, the Mercy Foundation is the primary means for nurturing support for the mission and activities of Mercy Medical Center – now and in the future. This important work includes raising capital funds for equipment purchases and construction projects, including new technology and care initiatives.
The Foundation led the fundraising campaigns for the Family Caregivers Center, Hall-Perrine Cancer Center, Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hallmar Village and the DeWolf Family Innovation Center for Aging & Dementia. Generous support from donors like you made these things happen, thereby improving local healthcare and the wellbeing of our community.

The Foundation team also works with donors looking to leave a legacy through a planned gift. Options include naming Mercy as a beneficiary through a will or trust, or on a life insurance policy or retirement account. As with other gifts to the Foundation, a planned gift may be designated to a specific area of interest, like cancer or hospice care. An undesignated gift, however, offers flexibility and allows Mercy to put your donation toward the areas of greatest need and opportunity.
When considering a planned gift, it’s important to visit with a member of our team to ensure that your wishes are honored and documented. We’d also like to know about your intentions so we can properly thank and acknowledge you. Anyone making a planned gift to Mercy is recognized as a Founders’ Society member. Those reaching $50,000 or more in lifetime giving are also honored in this way. Learn more about our Recognition Societies.
While the Foundation offers many giving opportunities throughout the year highlighting different areas of need, gifts can be made at any time to a donor’s area of specific interest. You can always make an immediate cash gift online. Donations can also be made in person at the Foundation office or by mail. All gifts are wonderful and appreciated – thank you!
In addition to cash gifts, there are other ways to give to Mercy right now that may offer tax advantages. These include:

Our team can help you explore your giving options, including blended gifts. For example, you could set up a recurring annual gift through your IRA and a planned gift naming the Mercy Foundation as the eventual beneficiary of any remaining assets. A gift like this allows you to support Mercy during your lifetime, while also leaving an enduring legacy.
Gifts to the Mercy Foundation may also be made in memory or in honor of someone. These gifts may be designated to a specific area of interest, like dementia or heart care, or may be given without restriction. This giving option includes Mercy’s Grateful Patient Giving program, which provides donors with the opportunity to recognize and thank their care team. Notice of gifts made in this way are shared with the care providers involved.
With the exception of IRA charitable distribution checks, please make your gift payable to the Mercy Foundation. Learn more about hospital needs and giving opportunities by contacting a member of the Mercy Foundation Team. We are incredibly grateful for your support and happy to assist you in achieving your charitable goals.
