Mercy Cedar Rapids is committed to investing in our employees to help them grow personally and professionally. There are a variety of programs available to Mercy employees to help them grow to their full potential. Some programs such as compliance training and new nurse residency are non-elective and will automatically be integrated into an employee's job. Other programs such as staff development and scholarships are considered elective and are available to employees to utilize at their own discretion.
Elective Opportunities
- LinkedIn Learning - A platform which plays host to online learning classes on thousands of topics.
- School at Work - Skill building for medical terminology, math and language.
- Staff Development - Hosted by our organizational development team, topics include Microsoft Excel, emotional intelligence, Called to the Mission of Mercy and more!
- Watts Library - A library within the hospital, a part of the Cedar Rapids Metro Library Network.
- Continuing Education - a learning allowance for each employee to gain new skills relevant to their work as well as eligibility to receive paid time-off for class attendance.
- RN to BSN - In partnership with Mount Mercy University, up to 30 hours of education support to achieve a BSN.
- Education Assistance - Programs include Earn+Learn and MercyReady and provide financial support to those furthering their education in nursing or allied health at a partnering school.
- Scholarships - Available from both mercy and the Mercy Foundation to employees pursuing a degree in healthcare, business administration or related fields.
- Tuition Reimbursement - Financial support for college credit courses relevant to your career path, including paid time off for class attendance.
