Dr. Hamed joined Mercy Cardiology Clinic in September 2022. He studied medicine in Bern, Switzerland. He served in the Swiss Army during and after medical school for more than a year and was promoted to first Lieutenant, serving as an Army physician.

Thereafter, he decided to receive additional training in internal medicine in the United States at Johns Hopkins/Sinai Hospital, where he finished his internal medicine residency and did research at the Sinai Center for Thrombosis in Baltimore. In 2009, he was chosen to serve as Chief Resident of Internal Medicine.

In 2013, he graduated from Oregon Health and Science University and became a cardiologist. He then joined a private practice in Southern Oregon until 2020, which is when he decided to return to Switzerland for more training in cardiology.

Having trained and served in two highly developed healthcare systems (U.S. and Switzerland), he has learned to appreciate the differences of both systems. He’s interested in improving quality of healthcare and using available technology to facilitate it.
