How to Deal with Job Burnout
You may feel annoyed and burnt out on your job, but is it a bad week or actually a bad job? Looking for a new job may not be the answer. Below are a few tips on how to self-reflect and learn how to become excited about your job again.
Reflect on your actions
Could you approach projects differently? Is your attitude positive or negative? How you handle your projects can also make it seem like your job is draining you. Try listening to your favorite music, having a snack or going for a short walk with coworkers to help yourself feel invigorated.
Talk to your supervisor
Based on your type of work, you may be able to switch to a different type of project to switch up your routine. Your supervisor doesn’t want to lose valuable employees and is there to listen to your concerns. Offering your help on other projects would still be beneficial to your supervisor and team’s workload while you get to experience something new.
Know your limits
You may be taking on too many projects and saying, “yes” to everyone that needs help. Instead, prioritize your projects. If you work on a team, other people may be just as suited to work on a project as you are and would be happy to help. Being too stressed won’t help your mental health, the project or the end goal of a job well done.
Take a vacation
You may just need a break to feel refreshed and break your routine for a week. When was the last time you took some time for yourself? Taking a vacation can be fun and help you be ready to return to normalcy.
Sleep
Something that can affect your mood, appetite and energy is sleep. Learn how many hours of sleep a night helps you feel fulfilled and stick with it. Beginning your day on a good note is a helpful way to make the rest of your day productive.
