Creative Ways to Connect with Others During COVID-19
If you family and friends are trying to figure out how to celebrate the upcoming holidays during the pandemic, read the following ideas on how to still connect. Through video chatting, talking on the phone or meeting in person while staying six feet apart, there are many activities you can do as a family.
Have a Meal
Whether you’re virtually meeting or are in person, you can still have a family meal. Each family can join a video chat, have your own choice of food in the comfort of your own home and still enjoy the familiar conversations between family members by seeing them on your screen. Or, if it’s warm enough outside, bring everyone together outside, set up chairs six feet apart, wear masks and have same-household-families sit together.
Play Games
Families or young children can play games with each other virtually, such as, charades, video games or board games. You can plan ahead to make sure everyone has the same game and enjoy the family competition.
Watch a Movie Together
If you have a traditional show or movie you usually watch during the holidays together, you still can but remotely! Whether everyone has the same DVD or an online video subscription, the family can watch holiday movies together.
Drive-By Greetings
If your family or friends live nearby, make signs or decorate your car and have a miniature parade by grandparents’ homes. Each family can bond while decorating signs with words of encouragement or their car with holiday décor. Everyone would still have something to look forward to and the family can still get together while safely social distancing.
